The cold water enveloped her. Its current caused her body to spin in slow circles. The air outside was that of a dying summer day, but it was not the warmth she saught, but the feel of the icy silk that now ran over her skin. She was home.
Adelade knew she was smiling, a feeling long forgotten. She could feel it the moment she jumped into the pool. The water was where she wanted to be. Her skin felt too hot and the air too dry. It was a rare treat to enjoy the cool water in her parents' pool. Her life had taken her far away for so long, she almost forgot what it was like to be in the water.
After swimming several laps, she let her body float. The pool filter created a current that rotated her around the center of the circular pool. The setting sun created red sunbursts through her eyelids. She opened her eyes to the underside of trees. There was no other time of day that was more beautiful. The sun shown through the trees to create a spectrum of oranges and greens. So many trees spilled over the pool, trying to peak at the beauty of a girl at peace. And she could not help but widen her smile at the beauty of life surrounding her. This was bliss.
